Mindmap or Mind-dump?

Do you use mind-maps?

It’s that piece of paper where you scribble down the main points while brainstorming a topic to write about, and connect them.

Like a first attempt to get some order into your thoughts.

I often skip that step.

Instead, a mind dump seems more convenient. You simply write down everything that comes to mind about the topic. Then you start editing.

But there are writing assignments where that doesn’t do the trick.

When you need to make a very specific point, it’s not enough to dump the information on the page. You need to connect the dots properly.

A mind map lets you do that.
